Building on heritage

Drawing inspiration from Wolverhampton’s industrial heritage, the architecture reflects the city’s historic factories and manufacturing legacy. Each building has been designed to feel distinctly Wolverhampton – building on its heritage while looking confidently to the future.

A collection of spaces

Smithgate has been designed as a collection of bespoke and individual buildings, united around a coherent and connected masterplan.

Bicycle Works, for example, will deliver the first 331 new homes. The Fold provides an opportunity for a bold statement building, whilst Lockgate will deliver a new gateway into the city.

Elsewhere, Tandem Mews will host carefully designed family homes and apartments designed around a new green square.

Build to Rent

Smithgate will introduce Build to Rent homes to Wolverhampton for the first time, raising rental standards across the city.

Residents will benefit from 24/7 professional management, high-quality communal spaces, and flexible tenancies – making city centre living easier and more attractive.

These homes will appeal to a broad range of people, from young professionals to families and downsizers. They will attract new demographics into the city centre, while also catering to established communities.

Working closely with Registered Providers and City of Wolverhampton Council, ECF will make new homes available at affordable rents for those who need them most. These new and efficient homes will also aim to keep energy bills as low as possible.
